MARCH REC: Under the Weather

Author: [livejournal.com profile] pooh_collector
Characters/Pairings: Gen - Peter, Neal
Rating: PG13
Word Count: ~1,940
Theme: hurt/comfort
Original Publication Date: November 5, 2013
Content Notes: (i.e., warnings or triggers) None.
Summary: Tag to 5.03. Sick!Neal. Written for [livejournal.com profile] ivorysilk, because she commanded it, AGAIN. ;) This will most certainly be jossed on Thursday. (And, it was.)

Why should people re-read this story?: I really like the push and pull between Neal and Peter at this point in the series and I think this story does a good job of showing the complicated twist of their trust issues and friendship.

Special Theme Week Rec (kid!Neal) - Kid Fears

Author: doctor_fangeek
Characters/Pairings: Peter, Neal, Elizabeth
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~6360
Theme: Neal's Birthday (kid!Neal)
Original Publication Date: October 23, 2012
Content Notes: This is the second in my series of de-aged Neal stories. I never expected to write de-aged Neal, but then I went to a fan gathering in Chicago and we played some writing games, and one of them resulted in my first kid!Neal fics. In this 'verse, Neal has this somewhat troubling ability to find (and touch) magical de-aging objects. Title from the song of the same name by the Indigo Girls
Summary: Neal's strange affinity for de-aging objects continues. But what if Peter isn't there to find him when he's lost?
Why should people re-read this story?: In the words of one of the commenters, "While kid!Neal is adorable and hurty, he's still our Neal...and that's the triumph of this fic." I found that I enjoyed writing de-aged Neal both because he is, in fact, adorable, and also because I could explore themes that speak to the relationships between adult Neal and the other characters (especially Peter).

March self-rec: The Last Day of Danny Brooks

Author: [livejournal.com profile] hurinhouse
Characters/Pairings: Neal Caffrey, OFC
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 786
Theme: kid!Neal (I hope that Neal's very first hours of being 18 can count?)
Original Publication Date: 10.3.12
Content Notes: Angst, teenage sex (though not necessarily underage)
Summary: The beginning of many endings
Why should people re-read this story?: I liked this unique POV of this difficult day in Neal's past.

Special Theme Week - The Week of March 21 (Neal’s Birthday): Neal-as-child or Kid!Neal stories

In Ancient History, we learned that Neal's birthday is March 21 (and he's an Aries). For the entire week (March 21 – March 27), [livejournal.com profile] wcredux is asking for recommendations for stories featuring Neal-as-child or Kid!Neal (de-aged) fanworks.

Same rules apply to Special Theme Weeks - one story that you've written, and it must be at least six month old (written before September, 2015).

You can always recommend as many fanworks from other creators as you want to (but do check to see that they haven't yet been rec'd here on [livejournal.com profile] wcredux), and they must also be at least six month old.

Posts for this Special Theme Week will remain open until 11:59 PM on March 27. Afterwards, your mods will collect the recommendations and add them to the master list.

March Vid Rec: Odds Are (We'll Be Alright)

Author: treonb
Characters/Pairings: Peter & Neal
Rating: G
Word Count: n/a
Theme: Hurt/Comfort
Original Publication Date: Dec 28th, 2013
Content Notes: None
Summary: Vid tag to 5x09 "No Good Deed"
Why should people re-watch this vid?:  There was a lot of hurt in this episode, and I needed some comfort, to know that for all the bad feelings between Peter & Neal, they'll be alright in the end.

March Theme Reminder

Just a reminder, March is the time to rec and self-rec Hurt/Comfort fanworks. And remember, instead of one fanwork this month, creators can make multiple recs of their own creations here on [livejournal.com profile] wcredux. But (and isn't there always a "but") each recommendation has to feature a different whumpee. For example, one self-rec can have Neal as the whumpee, another rec, Peter, and a third might be Elizabeth, and so on.

March Rec: Somehow, Sundown

Author: [livejournal.com profile] sapphire2309
Characters/Pairings: Neal Caffrey, Peter Burke
Rating: R
Word Count: 780
Theme: Hurt/Comfort
Original Publication Date: 4th October 2014
Content Notes: Unspecified physical trauma, vague but graphic descriptions of injury.
Summary: Neal's kidnappers hurt him. A lot.
Why should people re-read this story?: Because I'm posting a sequel tomorrow? *g*
On a more serious note, I'm still proud of this story on the reread, which I can't say for everything that I've put out. It's a story that has a distinct voice (in my head). It's a little dark, but so am I. And, as the summary says, Neal is hurt a lot, but Peter's there in the end to provide comfort c:

March Recommendations – Hurt/Comfort

Since the very beginning of the White Collar Fandom, the theme of Hurt/Comfort has been preeminent. The White Collar Hurt/Comfort Community is one of the most vibrant on LJ and your mods know how much fanworks creators love this theme. That's why we're opening up the throttle and letting everyone's inner hurt-comforteers run free.

Instead of one fanwork this month, creators can make multiple recs of their own creations here on [livejournal.com profile] wcredux. But (and isn't there always a "but") each recommendation has to feature a different whumpee. For example, one self-rec can have Neal as the whumpee, another rec, Peter, and a third might be Elizabeth, and so on.

You can always recommend as many fanworks from other creators as you want to (but do check to see that they haven't yet been rec'd here on [livejournal.com profile] wcredux), and they must also be at least six month old.

The age rules for the fanwork are still in effect – the work must be at least six months old (i.e., published before September 2015), and of course, the older the fanwork, the better.

February rec: Reunion

Author: [livejournal.com profile] sheenianni
Characters/Pairings: Neal/Mozzie
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1,200
Theme: Romance and schmoop
Original Publication Date: November 2013
Content Notes: None
Summary: AU-ish, set in the Pilot. After Neal is released from prison, he and Mozzie meet for the first time in four years.
Why should people re-read this story?: I’m a total sucker for Neal&Mozzie friendship, but they’re also one of my favorite rare pairings. And for all the slash in this fandom, there’s very little of them.

February Recommendations – Romance and Schmoop

Some of us hate St. Valentine's Day and the manufactured romance, but you have to admit that it makes for a potent theme in the bleakness of mid-winter. [livejournal.com profile] wcredux wants your romantic and your schmoopy fanwork recommendations. And if you find that you are opposed, in principal, to the very idea of Valentine's Day, then give us a recommendation for a trainwreck of a relationship.

Remember - you can recommend one of your fanworks for the theme and the fanwork must be at least six months old (i.e., published before August 2015), but the older the fanwork, the better.

January Theme Reminder

Just a reminder, January is the time to rec and self-rec First Time fanworks.

January Rec: Heading South

Author: [livejournal.com profile] treonb
Characters/Pairings: Neal, Peter, Mozzie, Elizabeth
Rating: PG
Word Count: 16K
Theme: First Times, New Beginnings
Original Publication Date: April 28, 2014
Content Notes: Loosely based on the ending of S5. Assumes Neal finished his sentence shortly after the season finale.
Summary: Post-anklet story. Neal gets a job and ends up in more trouble than he'd planned
Why should people re-read this story?: It's a story I enjoy rereading. It's a look at how Neal would deal with going straight, at his friendship with Peter and Mozzie and how they deal with Neal not living up to their expectations.

January Theme - First Times

It's a New Year, and what better time to bring out the old fanworks! Because it's a new year, it's also a time for fresh starts and new beginnings and very first times. That can mean anything - a first date, a first kiss, a first night in prison! [livejournal.com profile] wcredux wants you to share your best White Collar first times for the entire month of January.

Remember - you can recommend one of your fanworks for the theme and the fanwork must be at least six months old (i.e., published before July 2015), but the older the fanwork, the better.

Rating: R
Word Count: ~500
Theme: Arrest-i-versary
Original Publication Date: February 14, 2013

Summary: It's Neal's first day in prison, and he's going to be bunkmates with the scariest inmate in Sing-Sing, Peter Burke.
Why should people re-read this story?: Because it's a taste of a longer A/U that I still want to write.
