FIRST TIME RECCER w00t!
Author:
florastuart
Characters/Pairings: Neal/Kate, Fowler, Mozzie, Peter, Keller, Adler
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 78,000
Theme: Secondary Characters
Original Publication Date: September 2012
Content Notes: Some violence
Summary: She’s never liked chess, and this is chess played in the dark and blindfolded, and all the pieces are broken glass. Kate’s POV of season 1.
Why should people re-read this story?: You should read this story because chances are you missed it the first time around. You should re-read this story to be reminded that there are more than two sides to every story. And you should read it even if (especially if) Kate was not a favorite of yours. Believe me, you won't be alone. This more than any other story I've read has the most reviewers start out by saying something along the lines "I've never liked (this character) before..." But this story will turn you around on Kate (and even Fowler), I promise. Or, even if you still don't like them, you'll understand a gazillion times better. Florastuart takes every single tiny little morsel of information we are given about Kate, about Kate and Neal, about Neal pre-canon and creates this unbelievable rich and nuanced life. I could really go on and on about it. But I won't, because really, you should just go over and give it a try. I guarantee you won't be sorry.
